4th Bhaktapur Night Organized

4th Dec 2004, Saturday, In order to explore and experience Bhaktapur rich culture, custom and its ancient historical heritage sites. Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee organized 4th Bhaktapur Night 2004 on 4th December 2004 jointly with Tourist Guide Association of Nepal, Hotel Association of Nepal, Trekking Agents Association of Nepal and Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents. The organizers have been conducting this event since 2001 with a main concern to promote night tourism in Bhaktapur.

About 500 guests gathered at Durbar Square to observe the festival including 100 of international tourists. Numbers of traditional Newari dances were performed welcoming them with Newari Snacks. Then they were lead by Lakhe as a carnival to Taumadhi Square, where numbers of demonstration have been shown like Pottery Making, Hand Looms, Nawa baja, Mauli with Deepawali atmosphere. All the guests were again pared with dhimen baja to dattatraya Square,on the way to many cultural activities were being performed such as Distillery Making (Wine), Mat Weaving, Preparing Beaten Rice, Mask Painting etc. At last they were again gathered at the main square – Dattatraya Square, where numbers of traditional dances were performed serving typical Newari food –Yomari, Chatamari, Wo:, Soup, Dinner and yoghurt to the guests.

All in all, the program was a great success. The program was also cooperated by Bhaktapur Municipality, Bhaktapur District Development Committee, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and promoted by Nepal Tourism Board to make it success. It will definitely be one of the best tourism products to promote a cultural city Bhaktapur.
