5th Bhaktapur Night

Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee, a non-government organization established in 1997 A.D. with an active participation of the local community people directly and indirect related to tourism industries with the main theme - 'Development through healthy and sustainable tourism'. Bhaktapur - a mystic, medieval town known even as cultural capital of Nepal is a renowned tourist destination. We intend to develop and promote Bhaktapur through its most important saleable components - rich culture, fine art & architecture, unique cultural heritage, colourful festivals which run through out the year which even reflect the glimpse of the golden age of Nepalese history.
Introduction
Bhaktapur Night – the perfect time & place to encounter actual night life of Bhaktapur and its rich culture customs, historical monuments, sites & traditional dances. The nightlife in Bhaktapur is heavenly for tourists. While walking through narrow brick paved allies and open squares under the illumination of twinkling stars and flickering of oil lamp on the day of special Deepawali night has marvellous charm in Bhaktapur. Watching live old customs and cultures, traditional craftsmen at work would obviously make people lost track of time. Aiming to provide the opportunity to experience this all and more Bhaktapur Tourism Development Committee has been organizing Deepawali special 'Bhaktapur Night' programme after having a grand success for past four years. This is the '5th Bhaktapur Night' which will be organized on 15th November, 2005.
The participants will be served typical newari snacks, special local drinks, surrounded with the newari traditional life style and live performances of traditional dances by the local performers at the living historical, open air museum – Durbar Square, Bhaktapur and the event will be followed by special dinner. Actually it is a cultural event to explore & experience night life in Bhaktapur.
Objectives
· To promote night tourism in Bhaktapur.
· To expose and promote the originality of rich newari tradition and cultural activities.
· To preserve age old tradition and culture by catering benefits to the original cultural performers.
· To develop Bhaktapur as culture tourist hub.
· To explore Bhaktapur through its congested products.
Activities
Guest will be welcomed at the main entrance of Bhaktapur Durbar Square in a traditional way, amongst traditional music under the illumination of oil lamps and oil torches.
At the Durbar Square the guests will be offered traditional drinks and snacks, along with the range of traditional dances and other performances including cultural fashion show along with their brief interpretations. Then the guests will be lead by the musical performers to the Taumadhi Square then they will be provided about one hour time to explore Bhaktapur and guide facility will be provided for the groups.
Later on, all the guests will be served newari dinner (buffet) at the Durbar Square along with the non-stop musical performances and the guests will also be requested to participate on the last popular dance called 'Dhime Dance'. At last after the event all the guest will be provided transportation facilities for their return.

4:00 pm Departure from Kathmandu
4:45 pm Arrival at Bhaktapur
4:45 pm Welcome at Durbar Square, serving drinks & snacks
5:00 pm Cultural Program & Cultural Fashion show
6:30 pm Visiting Taumadhi Square and other places with guides
7:30 pm Back to Durbar Square
7:40 pm Newari Dinner (Buffet) and live musical performance
8:30 pm Dhime Dance
9:00 pm Departure for Kathmandu
